Podolski returns to training to provide Arsenal fitness boost
The Germany international has been out of action since August, but appears to be on the verge of being available for selection once again
Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski is closing in on a return to first-team action after taking part in training on Tuesday.

The Germany international has been sidelined since August after picking up a hamstring injury in the Champions League play-off victory over Fenerbahce, with boss Arsene Wenger anticipating that he could be out for up to 10 weeks.

Podolski now appears to be on the verge of being available for selection once again, however, after he posted a picture on his official Instagram page in full training gear at Arsenal's London Colney training base.

A tweet that accompanied the picture read: "I've been waiting for this moment - back on the pitch!"

Podolski had begun the season in impressive form, scoring twice in a 3-1 Premier League win at Fulham on August 24 before picking up the injury in the 2-0 triumph over the Turkish outfit three days later.

The former Bayern Munich star has had to frustratingly watch on as his Gunners team-mates continue to lead the way at the top of the Premier League, with Saturday's victory over Crystal Palace keeping them two points clear at the summit.

Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways against Liverpool on Saturday, however, after they were dumped out of the Capital One Cup by Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
