The Italian coach feels the principality side were fortunate not to suffer another defeat after a disappointing showing on Friday night
Monaco head coach Claudio Ranieri has conceded Evian deserved to beat his team in the wake of their 1-1 Ligue 1 draw on Friday.
Ranieri's team missed the opportunity to move into second position in the table as they had to come from behind to claim a point, but the Italian was not too disappointed with the final result as he feels Monaco were fortunate not to lose the match.
"Evian deserved more, so it is a good point for us," Ranieri said at a press conference.
"To be honest, if Evian had won the game 3-1, that would have been acceptable based on their chances. We played very badly.
"We hosted Evian after they've just won three games in a row, so they had a lot of confidence in their team. They played the game we were expecting, staying tight at the back, waiting for a chance to counter-attack."
Monaco moved up to 26 points with the draw but remain behind second-placed Lille on goal difference, while reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain (28 points) are clear at the top of the Ligue 1.
Both Lille and PSG have yet to play this weekend.
