Dortmund boss Klopp targets DFB-Pokal success

Dortmund boss Klopp targets DFB-Pokal success
The Schwarzgelben coach feels that the tournament could represent his side's best hope of silverware this term

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is desperate for Borussia Dortmund to relive their "extraordinary" 2011-12 DFB-Pokal success this season.

The Schwarzgelben are lagging seven points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and their participation in the knockout stage of the Champions League has yet to be confirmed, making the domestic cup their best chance of further silverware this season, after the summer's DFL-Supercup win.

Klopp was in charge at Signal Iduna Park when BVB romped to a 5-2 victory over Bayern in the 2012 DFB-Pokal and he is keen to experience such scenes again, but warned his players that they must not underestimate Tuesday's last-16 opponents, Saarbrucken.

"This is a fight which we must win by any means necessary," the 46-year-old trainer told the club's official website.

"In 2011-12, we had a successful cup season because we took every team seriously in all of the rounds. We were not flying through the rounds; we had to work hard.

"We do not have an insane amount of chances to win titles and we want to get back to the final. [2011-12's final] was one of the most extraordinary moments that we have ever experienced."
