Tricolor president Carlos Miguel Aidar has opened the door for the Brazilian midfielder to rejoin the club, but only if he shows a desire for the move to happen
Sao Paulo president Carlos Miguel Aidar says Kaka could return to the Brasileirao outfit this summer, if he shows an interest in joining.
The 32-year-old began his career with the Tricolor before an €8.5 million move to AC Milan in August 2003, where he has won a Champions League and Serie A, playing over 300 times for the club in two spells either side of a stint at Real Madrid.
However, after returning to San Siro on a free transfer last September, Kaka has failed to replicate the form he showed when he first arrived in Italy and rumours have mounted that he will soon leave Milan, with Sao Paulo apparently a possible destination.
"I say this in an official capacity: Kaka will only not return to Sao Paulo if he does not want to," club president Aidar was quoted as saying by ESPN Brasil.
"But at the same time, we will only begin any conversation from the moment he shows an interest in returning."
Asked about the prospect of signing the midfielder, Sao Paulo coach Muricy Ramalho was full of praise for the player, though he also joked that Fifa may need to change the rules of football to allow him to accommodate the talent in his squad.
"I'll have to talk to Fifa for them to increase the number of players," the 58-year-old quipped when asked how Kaka would fit in alongside the likes of Ganso, Alexandre Pato, Luis Fabiano and Alan Kardec.
"We won't manage with 11. But a good player has to play.
"He's a hell of a player, but it is very difficult because of the financial side of things too. The clubs have difficulty. It takes a lot but in football you can often find that some moves are impossible and then they happen. It may be well the case with Kaka."
