Reus laments 'shattered' World Cup dream
The winger says he "cannot find the words to express what he's feeling" as he faces up to the prospect of spending the summer undergoing rehabilitation

Marco Reus has spoken of his shattered dreams after an ankle injury ruled him out of Germany's World Cup campaign.

The orussia Dortmund attacker was set to play a key role in Joachim Low's plans, but suffered torn ankle ligaments in Friday's 6-1 friendly win over Armenia - Germany's final game before the tournament in Brazil.

Sampdoria defender Shkodran Mustafi has been called up in Reus' place, just nine days before their World Cup campaign begins against Portugal in Salvador.

Reus is also likely to miss the majority of pre-season with Dortmund as a result of the injury, but the 25-year-old is doing his best to remain positive.

"I really don't know how I'm meant to find the words to express what I'm feeling right now," Reus wrote on his club's website.

"A dream's been shattered, but I've got to look forward and go into my rehabilitation as professionally as I can, because things have to go on.

"I'll come back even stronger than I was. My best wishes now go to the team. I hope they reach our goal without me."
