Allegri: Juventus remain title favourites but watch out for AC Milan & Inter
The Bianconeri have lost some key performers, including Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez, but the coach has been buoyed by the quality of their replacements

Massimiliano Allegri insists that Juventus remain the favourites to win this season's Scudetto - but admits that the title race could be a whole lot closer this time around.

The Bianconeri romped to a fourth consecutive championship triumph last term, finishing 17 points clear of second-placed Roma.

Allegri is expecting a stronger challenge this term, particularly in light of the spending sprees at AC Milan and Inter, but he feels that Juve remain the team to beat in Italy - despite the summer departures of Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez, and imminent exit of Arturo Vidal.

"Inter and Milan have both strengthened and are capable of challenging for the title, as are Roma and Napoli.

"Next year's Serie A title race will be a lot more open."

Juve have already snapped up Sami Khedira, Simone Zaza, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic ahead of the new season - and Allegri is happy with the quality of the new arrivals, believing that the Bianconeri boast a squad capable of continuing their domestic dominance.

"Everything we've achieved thus far is now consigned to the history books," the former Milan boss added. "We start again from scratch.
