De Gea named in Manchester United's Champions League squad for play-off stage
Manchester United have named David De Gea in their Champions League squad for this month's play-off against Club Brugge.

De Gea was omitted from the United squad to face Tottenham on the opening day of the Premier League by boss Louis van Gaal, who suggested the Spain international was not focused enough to feature amid a prolonged stand-off with Real Madrid over a summer transfer.

But this has not prevented Van Gaal from including his star goalkeeper in his plans for the two-legged tussle with the Belgian giants - even though appearing in a Champions League match for United would make De Gea ineligible for the competition at Madrid this season.

MANCHESTER UNITED SQUAD IN FULL
Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Anders Lindegaard, Sergio Romero, Sam Johnstone

Defenders: Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Paddy McNair, Matteo Darmian, Tyler Blackett

Midfielders: Adnan Januzaj, Michael Carrick, Daley Blind, Ashley Young, Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia, Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, Memphis Depay, Juan Mata

Strikers: Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, James Wilson.
