Hiddink's rallying cry: Chelsea CAN turn it around

The Dutch coach is determined to put the Blues's season back on track after taking over from Jose Mourinho, with the Premier League champions beating Sunderland on Saturday

Guus Hiddink has insisted Chelsea can turn their season around after he was confirmed as Jose Mourinho's successor at Stamford Bridge.

The Dutch coach was in the stands to watch the Blues take on Sunderland on Saturday, with Steve Holland and Eddie Newton taking temporary charge as the team romped to a comfortable 3-1 win.

Hiddink enjoyed a hugely successful interim spell in west London following the sacking of Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2009 and says he is looking forward to getting back to work.

"I am excited to return to Stamford Bridge," he told the club's official website. "Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment.

"However, I am sure we can all turn this season around.

"I am looking forward to working with the players and staff at this great club and especially renewing my wonderful relationship with the Chelsea fans."
