The Montenegrin attacker has turned down moves to England and Spain but could still end up at San Siro
Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic has rejected a move to Arsenal and Valencia, but there is still hope that a transfer to Inter could be resurrected.
The Montenegrin had seemed destined to join the San Siro outfit last week in a swap deal involving Fredy Guarin, but Nerazzurri president Erick Thohir controversially pulled the plug on the deal at the 11th hour.
Juve have since attempted to find a buyer elsewhere, but Vucinic does not wish to leave Italy and on Thursday turned down switches to both Arsenal and Valencia.
The 30-year-old’s agent Alessandro Lucci has been in constant contact with Arsenal directors in recent days. But with the Gunners only willing to sign Vucinic on loan, and manager Arsene Wenger still harbouring doubts over the player, the transfer was already far from a formality.
Vucinic was also unconvinced over a switch to Valencia, a club who have sold a clutch of players in recent hours. Having also rejected a €15 million switch to Zenit St Petersburg earlier this week, the only destination seemingly still open for the ex-Roma man is Inter.
The Nerazzurri remain open to further negotiations, with coach Walter Mazzarri a known admirer of the player, but with time running out it is becoming increasingly likely that he will remain at Juventus.
This could have a knock-on effect for the future of Bianconeri striker Fabio Quagliarella. The Serie A champions need to sell a forward to make space for the probable arrival of Southampton's Pablo Osvaldo and Quagliarella could be the sacrificial lamb if Vucinic stays.
