Under fire Manchester United boss David Moyes reportedly has the backing of the club's owners, the Glazer Family.
David Moyes has endured a difficult start to his succession of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, compounded yet further by an extremely poor performance in the recent Champions League encounter with Olympiakos.

In the days since, pressure from certain sections of the media and an increasing number of United fans has grown. Some have even drawn up prospective shortlists on possible replacements for Moyes, while bookmakers have shortened the odds on an impending sacking.

However, the Guardian is reporting that despite the increasing external pressure, Moyes still has the full backing of United's owners, the Glazer family.

The Glazers appointed Moyes in the summer at the behest of the retiring Alex Ferguson and the new arrival was given a lengthy six year contract to carry on the work of the legendary former Aberdeen manager. When addressing the Old Trafford crowd at the end of last season, Ferguson reminded supporters how he had been backed through hard times as well as good times, stressing above all: "Stand by our new manager".

Determined to keep the traditions of United as a wholesome club built on values of long-termism, it is a message that the Glazer family are taking into account. United's American owners, who also control the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are seemingly wary of falling into the same trap as some other top clubs who sack managers too readily for perceived failures. Should Moyes be moved on in the near future, the United owners know they risk setting a dangerous precedent for any future managers.

The Glazers seem prepared to back their manager in the transfer market too. The club record arrival of Juan Mata was sanctioned in January, while numerous news outlets have reported that Moyes will receive a summer transfer budget of up to £200m or more to bring his squad back to an elite level.

United are not due to play again until travelling to the Hawthorns to face West Brom on 8th March, followed by the crucial visit of Liverpool to Old Trafford a week later. With 11 Premier League games left to play and still in sixth place in the table, it remains likely that United will need to win every game between now and the end of the season if they are to finish in the top four and secure qualification for the Champions League.
