PSG Doctor: Cavani on schedule to return before March

PSG: Cavani on schedule to return before March
The French club’s medic Eric Rolland is happy with the 27-year-old’s recovery and is confident that the Uruguay striker will return to competitive action in the near future

Paris Saint-Germain’s doctor Eric Rolland has stated that Edinson Cavani is on target to return to competitive action by the end of February.

The Uruguay international suffered a hamstring injury in his side’s 2-0 Ligue 1 win over Bordeaux at the end of January and has not appeared for the Parisians since.

However, Rolland is pleased with the striker’s progress and expects him to complete his rehabilitation on schedule.

"Edinson was injured against Bordeaux, so he has been receiving treatment for two weeks now,” Rolland told the club’s official website.

“It's a hamstring injury. There are several different possible hamstring injuries, but we quickly diagnosed that it would take at least three weeks before he could return to competition."

Since being sidelined, the 27-year-old has missed two league games and is set to miss his side’s Champions League round of 16 match first leg against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.

“Depending on the results from his examination, we will enter into the next phase of his rehabilitation which will see him resume normal physical activity," Rolland continued.

“For the moment, his progression is in phase with the duration we initially established."
